ABOUT TELECOMCITY
Sweden and the world needs regions of world class, that are a base for the knowledge companies of the new times. This requires specialised regions, where business and knowledge environments together create the grounds for globally competitive new business ideas. Environments that attract and keep the best competence in the world and where the ability to cooperate is well developed.
These insights have in the Karlskrona region meant a purposeful gathering of efforts of a unique kind and a focusing of business- and trade and education politics over the last decade. Something which now has created unique business and development opportunities for IT and telecommunications companies.
In five years the Karlskrona region has brought out more than 3000 new IT jobs. Close to 20% of the workforce is employed in the IT and telecommunications industry. As many as in Stockholm. And most likely a European record. With close to 8 new students, per thousand inhabitants, in IT and telecommunications programs at university level - the education capacity is one of a kind. That equals twice as many students being admitted each year than any other Swedish labour market region. And 15 times as many as for instance the Stockholm region.
The environment continuously generates new companies that work with telecommunications, mobility, Internet and with the convergence between them. They develop new solutions, services and products of world class. They build the new business life in Sweden.
Strong regions are crucial for development and growth.
